Solar lights for parking lots shine bright at Fiddyment Ranch
A luxury residential housing complex in Roseville, California needed a dependable, sustainable lighting solution for residents arriving home after dark. Working with the developer, Leadsun installed 27 solar powered link lights, improving visibility and safety for the whole community with clean, sustainable, dependable, lighting powered by the sun all year round.

Better Lighting needed for residents at night
Solstice at Fiddyment Ranch is a luxury housing development in Roseville, California. Seven generations of the Fiddyment family have called Roseville home and at one point, this pioneer family held over 10,000 acres of land. Their history is intertwined with the Donner Party, the Gold Rush and the Great Depression[1]. Today, the Solstice development at Fiddyment Ranch attracts new families to the area, lured by the semi-rural location and luxury single family homes. Developed by Taylor’s builders, the homes come in two, three, and four-bedroom layouts, each with a detached garage for one or two cars in select residences.
Adjacent to farmland and a wilderness area, the semi-rural location of Solstice at Fiddyment Ranch means that the area is very dark at night. Better lighting was needed to improve visibility for residents walking from their carport to their front door at night. “Parents were also worried about their kids after dark,” said David Pineda, Leadsun’s Business Development Manager for the project. “Young children were playing in and around the carports at dusk, creating a potentially dangerous situation”.

Leadsun solar lights for parking lots
Leadsun installed twenty-seven 30-watt Link Lights in sixteen separate carports at Fiddyment Ranch. Five of the smaller carports were equipped with a 30-watt Link Light powered by a 60-watt AE3C solar engine. Eleven larger carports were installed with dual 30-watt Link Lights powered by a larger 90-watt AE3C solar engine.
The lights were programmed to come on for five hours after dusk at 100% power, then to 30%-100% with PIR motion sensor until dawn. “We carefully engineered the design, ensuring an economical solution that delivered more than enough light all year round,” David said. “Installation was also really straightforward because the lights are solar powered. No cabling, trenching or connection to the mains electricity was required so the installation was quick with minimal disruption to residents.”

Life looks bright for Fiddyment Ranch residents
The new lights at Fiddyment Ranch have significantly improved visibility and safety for residents arriving home at night and children playing at dusk. Briana Ortega, Lighting Project Coordinator for the client, Main Electric Supply Co. said she was “very impressed with the build quality of the product.”
Powered by the sun, the new lights will provide clean, sustainable, dependable lighting all year round with no electricity bills and minimal on-going maintenance.
